Fees and Tuition Agreement

About Tuition & Fees

CDL is a fee-for-service unit within the HDFS Department. Families will pay a monthly tuition rate based on their child’s classroom. Tuition is determined annually and is based on the cost of providing high-quality early learning experiences.

Enrollment Fees

Enrollment Fees: There is a one-time enrollment fee of $250.00.

Newly Enrolled Deposits: A $300 security deposit is required for all newly enrolled children but is refundable if 30 days notice is given. The deposit will hold a space for the child and will be refunded after you leave the CDL provided you give notice. All withdrawals require a 30 day notice submitted in writing to the CDL Office. Written notification of withdrawal of less than one month will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit.

Tuition Payment Policies and Procedures

Tuition payments are due in full by 5:30pm the 15th of each month. If for any reason the MU Child Development Laboratory is closed on the 15th of any month, we will accept payments without penalty by 5:30pm of the next day that the MU Child Development Laboratory classes resume. Any payments made after the due date or closing grace period will be charged an additional $20 late fee toward the following months billing. A late fee notice with a reminder of our policies will be sent to the home after each late payment. Please submit payments to the CDL main office or in the drop box by 5:30pm of the expected due date. Tuition payments are broken into 12 equal monthly payments and are not prorated for partial months of attendance, extended absences, closures for holidays/breaks, or for closures due to inclement weather.

Delinquent Payment Policy

If after two months of no payments or unauthorized partial payments made to the CDL, the Director will send a notice home indicating that you have 14 days to notify the Director of your reason for delinquency and present a payment plan. If no contact has been made to the Director after the 14 days of notice, the child(ren) will be dropped from the program within seven days. A letter from the Director will be sent home indicating your child’s last day and the expectation of restitution of the full amount due.

Authorized Payment Plan

Authorized payment plans may be arranged with the CDL Director under unusual circumstances and at the discretion of the CDL Director. If a payment plan has been arranged with the Director, the plans must be adhered to. If you are unable to adhere to the payment plan you must contact the Director immediately. The child(ren) will be dis-enrolled from the program if you are unable to adhere to a payment plan after one month’s lapse in arranged payment plan. A dis-enrollment letter from the Director will be sent home indicating the child(ren)’s last day and the expectation for restitution of full amount due.

Due Dates

Invoices are placed in your child’s folder on the first day of the month and payment is due by the 15th of that month. Failure to pay promptly could terminate your child’s enrollment. We accept cash or checks. Make checks payable to: University of Missouri. If you have not paid your tuition by the 15th of the current month a $20.00 fee will be applied to your balance. If you are more than one month behind in your payment, your child may be dismissed from the CDL.

Professional Days

The CDL will be closed 10 days during the year for the teachers to plan and to attend professional development trainings. The CDL reserves the right to charge for these days that we are closed for professional development purposes.

Additional Closings

The CDL will close Spring Break week and will align it’s winter closing with the Columbia Public School winter recess.
